Kitchen Manager Job Description

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for coordinating and supervising the ULBC kitchen according to food safety standards. Duties include food preparation, full cycle management of the kitchen staff from hiring to firing, ordering supplies and monitoring inventory levels. 

A Kitchen Manager reports to the Head Chef and is expected to work 40-45 hours per week. Must be available to work weekends and some holidays.

Compensation: $19.50 -$21.50/hr

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Executive Chef in all food service operations in order to maintain food quality and consistency with the restaurant menus.

  • Manage food and kitchen inventory to ensure supplies are restocked when needed. As well as anticipating, identifying and correcting any issues with inventory. 

  • Ensure the kitchen is kept clean and safe. 

  • Handle all disciplinary actions for the kitchen staff including verbal warnings, write-ups and terminations.

  • Participates in the hiring process by conducting interviews and making hiring recommendations.

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen staff including training, development,  and execution of daily duties. 

  • Assists in the implementation and management of ULBC’s policies and procedures throughout the kitchen staff. 

  • Take on the responsibilities of the Executive Chef when he is not at the Pratt Street location.


Requirements

  • Positive leader with excellent communication skills 

  • Knowledge of all kitchen operations 

  • Minimum of two years experience as a Kitchen Manager or a leadership role. 

  • Minimum of three years experience in a professional kitchen or hospitality role.

  • Must be highly organized

  • Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. 

  • Ability to work in a high stress environment and manage kitchen staff.

  • Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours a week as well as weekends and some holidays. 

  • Have knowledge and implement restaurant health, hygiene and safety measures.

  • Be a certified SERV safe Manager Food Handler
