Open Trail is an open-source beer collaboration created by Urban Lodge Brewing Co.

The goal of this project is to benefit local conservation efforts and raise funds for organizations working to inspire a love for the outdoors. Though we will focus our efforts on the northeast, this collaboration is open to everyone. We encourage any and all breweries willing to participate to please join us and ask that a portion of sales are donated to either:

  • Conservation organizations who work to protect lands, waters and wildlife.

  • Non-profit communities who inspire a love for, and stewardship of, the outdoors.

We encourage each brewery to personally choose the recipient(s) of their donation to keep the impact of the project local and meaningful to you. Urban Lodge will be donating a portion of taproom and to-go sales to two organizations; Farmington Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited and Manchester Land Trust.

Our extended community at Urban Lodge is an eclectic group of outdoor enthusiasts- hikers, campers, mountain bikers, hunters, anglers, skiers... Whether you walk your dog at the local park or hit the mountains for overnight backpacking extravaganzas, one thing is certain- natural spaces are for everyone, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status or geographic barriers. We believe in the unique value of developing a personal connection with the natural world, and the mental, physical, and spiritual benefits that it provides. We believe in the power of beer; we believe in the power of Open Trails.

We greatly appreciate your participation in this project and your commitment to conservation. Let’s get to work.

We have developed an easy-drinking and approachable New England Pale Ale to fill this special role. As with past open-source collaborations, the recipe, label, and name are all free to use. Feel free to tinker with the recipe and dry-hopping as you please.

We've created labels for both 16oz. and 12oz. templates. Below is a link to the art files and guidelines for usage. If you have any questions, please send us an email:

We will be using Fortis Solutions Group based out of Ellington, CT to print our label, using BOPP metalized film. Upload your files on a Monday to be printed within a week:
