Bartender Job Description:

Location: Urban Lodge Taproom and Kitchen – Manchester, CT
Reports To: General Manager & Assistant General Manager

Our Manchester location has built a strong connection with the local community, and we are looking for a bartender who wants to be part of that. We want someone who enjoys getting to know our regulars, welcoming new guests, and representing Urban Lodge both inside and outside of the taproom.

Job Summary

Bartenders at Urban Lodge are more than just the person behind the bar. They are an important part of creating the welcoming, community-focused experience our guests have come to expect.

We are looking for a team player with a strong work ethic who takes pride in their work and genuinely wants to see the company succeed. The right person is friendly, reliable, hardworking, and willing to jump in wherever needed to help the team and take care of our guests.

This is a fast-paced position where you will prepare and serve beverages, take food orders, interact with guests, maintain your bar and surrounding areas, and assist with the overall flow of the taproom. Server experience is a strong plus, as bartenders may be asked to assist with tables and other service responsibilities when needed.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages in a fast-paced environment.
Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive service to our guests.
Take food orders at the bar and assist with surrounding tables when needed.
Maintain a strong knowledge of Urban Lodge beers, food, wine, and cocktails and make recommendations to guests.
Educate guests about our beer, brewing process, and menu when appropriate.
Build relationships with our regular guests and help create a welcoming environment for new customers.
Accurately handle cash, POS transactions, and guest tabs.
Work closely with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth service.
Bus tables, wipe down tables, and assist with resetting and maintaining dining areas when needed.
Help keep the bar, taproom, and service areas clean, organized, and guest-ready throughout the shift.
Wash and maintain clean glassware and properly restock bar supplies and inventory.
Assist with beer tastings, events, and other community activities when needed.
Follow all company policies and state regulations regarding alcohol service and food safety.
Pitch in wherever needed, no task is “not my job” when it comes to taking care of our guests and supporting the team.
Represent Urban Lodge Brewing Co. in a positive, professional, and community-minded manner.

Qualifications

Previous bartending experience in a restaurant, brewery, or bar setting required.
Previous serving experience strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of beer, wine, cocktails, and food service is a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable interacting with a wide variety of guests.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude are essential.
Must have a strong team mentality and be willing to help wherever needed.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling.
Must be at least 18 years old and meet all applicable requirements for serving alcohol.
Responsible alcohol service certification (such as TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol) preferred.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 35 lbs. and occasionally lift/move up to 160 lbs.
